About Me

Dr. Ronald Swatzyna received his Masters of Science and Doctorate of Philosophy from The University of Texas Arlington as he finished a 20-year career as a professional firefighter/emergency medical technician. Currently, he is the Director of Neurotherapy at the Tarnow Center for Self-ManagementSM and in 2011, was inducted into Sigma Xi: The Scientific Research Society: Rice University/Texas Medical Center Chapter for his brain research. Dr. Swatzyna is a licensed clinical social worker, who board certified in biofeedback and neurotherapy. Other certifications include: Certified Brain Injury Specialist-Trainer, Clinically Certified Forensic Counselor and a Certified Anger Resolution Therapist. For 15 years, Dr. Swatzyna has treated the most diagnostically challenging cases in both inpatient and outpatient settings. As a researcher, he has presented 24 peer-reviewed papers on brain injury and dysfunction at national and international conferences. Dr. Swatzyna is a veteran of both Vietnam and the first Gulf War, and his personal battle with a traumatic brain injury and posttraumatic stress disorder has driven him to become a leading expert in this challenging area of brain dysfunction.
