About Me
I am a licensed psychologist and clinical neuropsychologist with more than 20 years of clinical experience. I consider myself a patient and empathic listener as well as a concerned humanist. For me there is no higher honor than to be able to help people resolve their psychological problems and to grow emotionally.
My approach to psychotherapy is eclectic, tailor-made to the specific concerns and problems of my clients. This is informed by broad clinical training in Virtual Reality Therapy, hypnotherapy, psychodynamic theory, cognitive-behavioral, and family systems modalities, and supplemented by my knowledge of brain-behavior relationships and psychopharmacology. These therapies can be used to help clients with a variety of problems including fears or phobias, acute or chronic pain, mood disorders, anxiety, stress, addictions or other harmful behaviors, low self-esteem, personal or professional identity difficulties, difficulties in relationships, or academic or career indecision. Therapy may be brief (e.g., pain, phobias like fear of flying) or longer term, based on clients' needs and desires. I will share my thoughts with you as we collaboratively design an approach with which you will be most comfortable.
I am supportive of ancillary approaches like mindfulness, meditation, exercise, and yoga. When desired or necessary I will refer clients to physicians, fitness instructors, massage therapists, etc.
I am respectful of my clients own perspectives, spiritual or religious affiliation, ethnicity, sexual orientation, physical disability, age, or lifestyle. Some of my clients require or desire little direction from me, others more. However, without you there can be no therapy!
