About Me
I work best with individuals and couples who want an active and interactive therapy, where we roll up our sleeves and dig into some hard work with a view toward getting results. We may be clearing out specific traumas, or repairing wounds of the past. We may also be devising and learning new skills of relating to partners without defensiveness, and with the ability to soothe one another and to connect lovingly and sexually. And we may also be working with habits of mind - through meditation and other tools that increase the capacity to feel life's joy.
In 37 years of practice I've been trained in many approaches, including mind/body techniques like hypnosis, EMDR, Somatic Experiencing and Intuitive Eating, in addition to psychodynamic and cognitive therapy. They are tools in my toolbox, to be used creatively depending on the person, the problem, and what works.
I've concentrated a significant portion of my practice (though not all) in the LGBT community. I was a pioneer in advocating for alternative family structures. I'm also open to and knowledgable about a wide range of sexual and gender issues and identities.
